A beginner level introduction to spirits for those starting a career in the industry or pursuing an interest in spirits.
By the end of the course you’ll be able to taste and describe spirits using a globally recognised approach, identify important styles of spirits and know the raw materials and production methods that define them.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification. Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years old.
Please see below for the specification for the Level 1 Award in Spirits:
Classroom delivery: one-day course – 7 guided learning hours with a WSET course provider (+ minimum 6 hours self-study time before arriving on the first day); examination at the end of the day.
Online delivery: two Zoom online sessions, workbook, tasting sample pack, set of tasting glasses, online exam.
The course is delivered in English (with Polish commentary if needed).
All course materials are provided before the start of the course.
Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 30 multiple-choice questions in English, to be completed in 45 minutes. A candidate is required to pass with a minimum mark of 70 per cent.
The online exam (remote invigilation) is run by a third party in cooperation with the WSET Global.
In order to give candidates an idea of the sort of questions that might be asked, this section includes 10 sample questions. The examination consists of 30 questions similar to these in the Revision Quiz below:

All students who pass the examination will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.
Classroom delivery – the price includes: classroom tuition, all study materials, postage charge for the delivery of the workbook, coffee break during classroom session and examination fee.
Online delivery – the price includes: online tuition, workbook, tasting sample pack, set of tasting glasses, postage charge for the delivery of materials and remote invigilation fee.
Installment payment possible – down payment – 800 PLN, then second payment of 700 PLN.
Resit fee – 300 PLN.
